“Your complaints seem to be that vim doesn’t work for you out of the box. That’s not a reason to dump it. Vim is infinitely customizable, but it just takes time to figure out how.”

Dave gives great relationship advice.

Back!

October 12th, 2009

I’m a lot more comfortable now. In the past few days I have: replaced Window Maker with WMII, freshened up my vimrc and installed Vimperator. Home sweet home. *happy*

*waiting for openembedded to finish compiling…*

I miss GNU/Linux.

October 6th, 2009

Some time ago I installed XP for a class. Shortly after the end of the quarter I got a job in a Windows shop and to get up to speed as quickly as possible I stuck with XP. I have learned to make using Windows tolerable but I still wouldn’t say it is enjoyable. Cygwin has been central to keeping me happy but it only goes so far. I’m switching to Linux at work as soon as I have the time to work out a compatible workflow. Using Windows regularly for this long has been a good experience for me. I have seen its strengths. I’m even a tiny bit interested in trying Windows 7. I have matured. But geez, I want my Linux back. I hope IAR plays nice in a VM.

* I used GNU/Linux in the title of this post. I’ve never advocated using GNU/Linux vs. Linux. Today it seemed appropriate. Go figure.
